Jessica Simpson’s pregnancy weight is still the subject of much debate, because the media seems to broadly agree with Gisele Bundchen’s March 2010 postpartum comments that: “I think a lot of [women] get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals.” That’s pretty much the sentiment of several panel members during this discussion on The Today Show, following similar commentary by doctors claiming Simpson should effectively starve herself on 1,2000 calories per-day because otherwise she’s a fat, slobby mess.
With Sarah Palin defending Simpson’s body, another panel member opined loudly during the introduction to this video: “[Jessica's] pretty fat. She’s pretty fat.” To which Matt Lauer played Devil’s advocate, saying Simpson opened the door to criticism posing in her bikini years back when she was The Dukes Of Hazzard skinny (she basically starved for the role, and old photos show her ribs and reduced bust), and because Simpson’s naked on last month’s Elle cover inviting further comment on her body.
