Somehow, in a sea of overrated reality stars and karaoke singers, the real talent has been left behind like chopped liver; meaning people like Meryl Streep don’t see their first American Vogue cover until three decades into their careers.
Here is Streep’s first cover for Vogue. Ever. Blake Lively has covered this magazine twice. And Vogue has been so busy shilling movie after movie and pandering to new talent they let real/ mature talent slip by. However, to some extent, with a really elegant editorial, they’re making up for that.
It’s an Annie Leibovitz photo shoot with an Annie Leibovitz unnecessarily-dramatic backdrop. It’s light on make-up, light on the Photoshop, and light on the styling so it’s classic rather than try-hard… it’s a winner and probably the only issue worth buying this year.
