Heidi Klum and Seal have confirmed what everybody knew 48-hours ago, that their marriage is effectively over and they’ve decided to separate.
Rather than immediately file for divorce, as still speculated by a rather adamant TMZ.com, the couple is just separating for now. As in, they’re currently living in the same home but intend to move out.
There was weekend speculation about what went wrong, which has been usurped by new allegations that Seal’s aggressive behaviour around his children caused the split. TMZ adds that Klum’s recent business successes have caused tension and distance between the couple.
There was no infidelity, although there were unfounded reports in the British tabloid that Seal’s partying bothered Klum.
They released a joint statement first to People.com and then Us Weekly: “While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”
